Theres not much to write, right now. The wedding is over, it was more fun than I thought and I got to a much more friendly relationship with the Manhattan. I was a little too drunk for my own preference but its true, it does calm the nerves.
Eddie's friend Mattias is here from Sweden and hes so...euro. I love it. His pants are just a tad too tight and they seem to taper. Then there are the Prada tennis shoes. And the constant references back to Sweden. And its true, he says, people do walk in lines there. Lol. I like him, he's nice.
Inevitably people began to note how in love Eddie and I are and when we're getting married. My mother for some reason thought I had when I called her yesterday. Weird. I just have so many problems with weddings and the symbolism that we still uphold today. The virginal white dress (thats just like a joke for about 99% of weddings that aren't either arranged or with children), the father "giving" his daughter away (my dad has known for years that won't happen--I mean, I see that and I expect a dowry to come with the bride, too), the "man" buying the ring and being saddled with that expense (no offense but I want a big ring and I want to share that expense with my husband to some degree)--I don't know. Can you get married in a non white dress (and I mean, nothing in the white family. I have had it up to here with girls who say they aren't getting married in a white dress, that it's instead "champaign"=beige, or "ivory" aka white)...with a ring you bought with your husband, not have your father walk you anywhere, and refuse to use bible passages which continually refer to the creation of Eve as a compainion to man and how a woman must promise to bear childre? Again, not denying the bible or biology but I would prefer to outgrow that layer of sexism that we seem to rationalize with God and science.
Ick.
So anyway. I don't know. I wish there was a middle ground between dating and marriage that wasn't living together which to me is basically a marraige. How about neighbors?
I could have too much time on my hands. Not frantically preping for law school applications has left me with too much time to spare. Eddie suggested I take up a hobby like collecting dimes. I laughed. I don't know--I did get a raise so perhaps I should just keep working as that clearly pays itself off. Who knows.
All the good volunteering opportunities with legal aid are during the workday hours.
Anyway, I watched Vanilla Sky for the second time in a week last night. I love that movie so so so much.

i love eddie, mainly for reasons like suggesting you should collect dimes.
unreal.
and there is no middle ground between dating/marriage and it sucks because so many of us are in that limbo and i think feel pressured to be married because, frankly, there's no where else to go but 'up'.
