PANDA TIME

LE SIGH.

06 July 2006

Independence

After returning from nearly a week up north in Minnesota, Eduardo and I have become almost monkey like with our mosquito bites...we look like biblical lepers, covered in big, splotchy and itchy red bites in places seen and also unseen (gross, I know, but its true). The monkey business comes in when he and i scratch and rub one another's bites, like monkey's picking nits off one another. Its really sort of gross but its to be expected when he and I have reached this level of...intimacy, I guess. Oddly enough, I still feel alive and lightening bolted when I am with him, so I suppose the presumption that real intimacy degrades passion is indeed false.

It was a great trip overall, punctuated by listening to his/her music choices - hearing Aesop Rock made me realize how much I do like him, as well as listening to Aceyalone with Lena (care of her new tattoo featuring a lyric of his) and of course, old school Tribe Called Quest (the old school may be redundant as all Tribe Called Quest is old school?). Fun times. I miss the proximity I had with my family growing up, but driving into Chicago at midnight last night provided a small thrill that I really love this city, who I have become in this city, and of course, the people I have met, loved, lost, and cherished in this city. Moving away will, if ever happening, be a sad event.

Also, the world cup continued as we were up in MN and we of course took every precaution to watch the games, seeing all three - I must say I was a little sad last night, watching Portugal lose to France. Figo and Zi Zou as Eduardo affectionately calls him (him and the rest of the world) exchanging jersey's touched my small athletic sympathetic side in a way I didn't think it could.

This weekend - 3rd place game (sort of sad in and of itself) and the finals - I haven't decided who I want to win, but if we're going by looks alone, its Italy, all the way.
