Our trip to Spain is really shaping up - especially now that we have planned to see a REAL MADRID game on the 7th. I cannot wait. I feel so excited for this; not just to see Spain and to see some fantastic football, but also be/c I feel it will give me a goal - outside of getting out alive - for the end of my first semester of law school. I recieved my orientation materials today and things with my loan have finally gotten in order. Very happy. I need to take a day to get mentally shifted towards what I have left to get done before I start orientation - buying books, reading the rest of the summer reading list, etc. But the excitement is there, and the determination.

I also read an interview on the REAL MADRID website with Zidane concerning his retirement - turns out, he lives there with his family and his boys play on the youth Real Madrid team. Aww.

ps) also found out Real Madrid is coming to play v. Real Salt Lake - I hate that it's called Real Salt Lake. Isn't Real Spanish for Royal? So Royal Salt Lake?...why not just ROYAL Salt Lake. LAME.

I LOVE YOU ZOE WILLIAMS...MY INTELLECTUAL TWIN.

"Those potatoes were in the deep fat f-ing fryer. DON'T LIE TO ME."

Has anyone else seen that episode of Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America? I LOVE IT.

Eduardo and I have developed what could end up being a pretty bad habit of sleeping very late on Sundays, staying awake for 3-4 hours, and then sleeping for another 2 or 3, which is precisely what occurred this afternoon. In truth, its understandable why we were so tired as yesterday was a crazy Ikea orientated day, punctuated with Julie's presence - always welcomed - and of course, an obligatory stop at Stir Crazy as we were in Schaumberg...yesterday it really was all Schaumberg, all the time. After visit #1 to Ikea, Julie had bought POANG:

And I was going back with appropriate automobile to get EKTORP and LACK:

After a delicious lunch, we went to Eduardo's home and traded the shuttle for his mother's massive Lexus SUV,a/k/a Jay - Z. Most of the ride was spent trying to figure out how to use the various bells and whistles, and as i said to Eduardo, I felt like Jay-Z. We loaded up this truck like vessel with a new chair and coffee table and headed downtown to my abode - dropped off the new furniture and then sat in traffic for 50 minutes to drop Jay-Z off and pick up the shuttle but after spending about 3 hours on suburban back up and traffic downtown, getting back in the car wasn't so appetizing. So we rested (of course) for about an hour, then went to Trader Joe's to get dinner supplies (his mother hasn't been home in about two weeks and much to my dismay, with only his brother, father, and Eduardo at home, it's become the epitome of a guy's only residence). No food and that there is is fully of fungus and mold. After the trip out, resulting also in an ice cream sandwich show down between the garden variety - can purchase at Blockbuster - kind v. Dairy Queen sandwich (resulting in the triumphant loss of the DQ brand), we made our dinner and cleaned out his fridge and watched Turner and Hooch. Eduardo is now obsessed with getting a French Mastiff, formal name: Dogue de Bordeaux, which resulted in many scenarios of "Dogue de Bordeaux v. Pitbull...Dogue de Bordeaux v. Bulldog" and on and on. We finally arrive home at around 12:30 AM and then proceeded to set up the Ikea furniture which concluded, after obligatory re arranging, at 2am.

Today we slept until noon, spent three hours awake, slept until 530, and then walked to Johnny Rockets for diner fare...now we're back and I must say my apartment is much more conducive to just...being there than it was, which is good, be/c once I start law school, I imagine i'll be here quite a bit.

The best part of the weekend is Eduardo and i have decided, if our family's don't give us too much flack, to spend Christmas/New Years in Spain! I am so excited, I just had to use that annoying ! point but really, I have wanted to go to Spain for quite some time, and seeing as I'll be on an academic year schedule again, I'll be able to spend some time abroad over the holidays/January period...my hope, of course, is to catch a REAL MADRID game...yes, please.
