Eduardo and I are planning a March trip to London. I am thrilled - I can't wait to see the places he used to hang out, the school(s) he went to, etc. The anticipation is almost better than the trip itself, really. I love asking him questions about what, say, school was like for him there in England. The best is is envisioning him in the little boarding school uniform. Lol. I am actually laughing right now, and if anyone knows Eduardo they know that he is a relatively good dresser by definition but seriously, him in a navy blazer with like a crest and a tie...too funny. Not cute, funny.

Anyway. The work week is over, thank heavens. Christmas shopping still has to happen, most likely on December 23rd when I fly home...be/c who wants to fly with a boatload of gifts that will get all mangled by under paid, pissed off airline workers?

Happy (early) Birthday to JLIZ. Birthday dinner next Wednesday, most definitely.

And I thought MySpace was bad. At least this is funded from a better place, no?

Left Behind: The Right Loves the Poor Until They're Born

The Washington Post today reports on a protest at the Capitol today by religious groups who want to draw attention to Congress's Grinchian end-of-the-year cuts in welfare (now that's a war on Christmas). Among those groups urging a reversal that "brings good news to the poor": the United Methodist Church, Episcopal Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian Church USA and United Church of Christ. Missing from this faith-based fandango? Prominent member of the religious right. And there's a good reason for that. They care about the poor, but they care more about fetuses. Or, as you might call them, the "pre-poor." Says a Focus on the Family spokesman:

It's not a question of the poor not being important or that meeting their needs is not important. But whether or not a baby is killed in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy, that is less important than help for the poor? We would respectfully disagree with that.
In other words, poor people, if you're cold and hungry this Christmas, the right would love to help you. You'll just need to find a womb to crawl into first.

A Religious Protest Largely From the Left [WP]

This is precisely what my mother always said: conservatives love to protect your right to "life" with their pro life antics but once you're born, good luck getting any support in taking care of that "life" that they demanded be brought out.

I saw Syriana over the weekend. It was a great movie with many different storylines contributing to the overall theme of the movie. I loved it but also loathed the people I heard afterwards who were confused or bored or whatever. Seeing as there should be a specific understanding that this movie is (as I read in the Chicago Tribune) "a card carrying liberal" there shouldn't be much confusion as to what the message of the movie is/was.

Anyway, before that Eddie and I went to Frontera Grill. Deliciousness abounds. Seriously, its one of the best Mexican restaurants...and I am all about delicious food. Really, my life tends to revolve around work, eating good food, and resting/sleeping/laying around, which is what my weekend consisted of.

In other news, through Will I have now realized how incredibly overloaded Myspace is. Nearly everyone I can think of is on Myspace which explans why it is the 5th most viewed Internet site in the US. Rupert Murdoch bought Intermix, which owned Myspace, back in July...I wonder if he has a profile? In addition, I wonder if all of these myspace members realized that Murdoch was intending to direct traffic to his Fox News TV sites. Nowadays its hard to function without, say, going to live in a teepee in Carbondale, IL (something my friend Lindsay told me about last week at lunch) without helping some sort of conservative tycoon make more cash...so I guess a Myspace profile isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things. Its a little gross in the blatant sexual sense. I am not necessarily the most prudent person, nor do I adhere to much propriety in the sexual way but when Myspace asks your body type and so many users post these salacious pictures pushing sex, its a little too much of a hipster-match.com. Ew.

I can't see myself wanting a profile but I had to create one just to get in. No photo...Its fake of course. Seeing as I don't want a new boyfriend, I don't see the point.
