According to the scale, I have lost between eight and ten pounds. I don't feel like I look it at all, but I did put on these jeans I haven't been able to fit into since two summers ago when I was like a size 0. So I have made steps towards the goal...don't ask me what that is because I still don't quite know why I am subjecting myself to this regime. I think it may involve therapy to get it out of me whole heartedly.

My friend Julie has a buddy icon for AIM that is Maggie Gylenhaal. She looks very film noir...I like it. I wish I could appear that way in photographs...all mysterious and shaded...black and white contrasts and such.

My friend Christine was in town from London, and we met up for about three hours last night. She has a british beau named jules who is 26. She suggested I join the Peace Corp//because when you can't find a job, go to a country with an economy worse than yours and elevate your status from an unemployed louse to local saint...well, depending on where you're stationed. She also told me to move out of this city...I am glad someone else understands how I feel Chicago is closing in on me.

So perhaps New York. My old editor Marisa works there, as a writer, and she, apparently, was sent out to Portland to write about The Shins...and she like fell in love with the lead singer...so when he was in NYC they were all about one another.
She is also a former model. No joke. She is going to be in a levi's commercial. Oh the ways of the world.

Hmm, or I guess thats what happens when you move to NYC: you get to fly on expensed trips to interview up and coming indie bands, fall in love, and so on and so forth.

But with my luck as of late, the car break in especially, I doubt HIGHLY that my endeavors to the Big Apple, if I decide to take them, would lead me to such illustrious places.

But that could just be me, being cynical, again.
Christine did say that, while intaking my current situation, its hysterical that I of all people am having the most trouble. And it really is funny in a sad, sad way.
